We are hosting our language programs in collaboration with our community partner,

the Halbuki Linguist Collective.

Halbuki – A Cooperative for Language & Cultural Justice

Halbuki began as a small Turkish class in an Oakland apartment and has grown into a worldwide cooperative offering high-quality language instruction, linguistic justice advocacy, and community-centered events. Their focus is on less commonly taught and endangered languages, and the work they do resonates deeply with our mission of celebrating Anatolian culture and global diversity.

Halbuki offers:

  • High quality language classes in Turkish, Zazaki, Modern Greek, Ukrainian and Quechua

  • Scholarships for language classes to all who need them

  • Free public events on linguistic justice, heritage, and culture

  • Provides interpretation and cultural consulting for nonprofits, community groups, and schools

The goal of the organization is to support a more multi-lingual and tolerant world by:

  • Supporting endangered language revitalization

  • Creating sustainable livelihoods for linguists and educators

  • Making heritage language learning accessible for families and individuals

  • Advocating for multilingualism and cultural equity

All proceeds from Halbuki’s classes go to support linguists, making language education accessible, and language revitalization projects—meaning every student contributes to cultural sustainability. As an organization that celebrates Anatolia’s artistic and cultural richness, we are happy to uplift Halbuki’s work and invite our community to explore their classes, events, and mission.
